Piercings are a huge part of my personality and the way I present myself to the world, they’re a beautiful way to express yourself and I wouldn't be me without them!

Meg Catherall, QualiTi Featured Artist.
Where did you learn to pierce? How long have you been in this trade?

I started working in the piercing industry around 10 years ago, I got work experience at a studio in Kent and was then lucky enough to be offered a job. Been working in and around studios ever since, piercing for around 8 years now and tattooing for three.

What was the first piercing you did?

The first piercing I did was a pair of earlobes, these are a pretty standard place to start when learning. I remember how scary but exciting it was!

Why piercing/body modification?

I have always loved piercings and tattoos, I decided when I was around 12 years old that’s what I wanted to do and they’ve been a huge part of my life ever since!

What piercing do you most enjoy doing?

This is a hard one! My fave is probably a Microdermal or an ear mapping project!

What do you love about your work?

I love my customers, my little shop and curating art for people be it piercings or tattoos.

What is the worst thing about your job?

Probably customers who ignore aftercare, this is super frustrating and such a shame! But these people are few and far between, my customers are mostly awesome!

What is the best thing about your job?

My customers, I’m very lucky to have such a nice bunch of humans that want me to snazz their body for them- truly blessed.

How many piercings do you have?

I’ve lost count, but I think around thirty?

How have piercings personally affected your own identity/persona?

Piercings are a huge part of my personality and the way I present myself to the world, they’re a beautiful way to express yourself and I wouldn't be me without them!

What is the most memorable thing that’s happened to you at work?

The opening day of my new studio was pretty special!

Professionally, what’s your goal?

To keep going and learning and perfecting my craft. This jewellery collection is a great milestone and I'm so excited to see all my customers wearing it!

What’s your dream project?

An ear mapping project using my collection for sure!!
